The Prodigy- Firestarter


The music video Firestarter by The Prodigy starts off with loud music, which on every main beat, the lights in the tunnel start to light up. From this we can see that the music matches the editing which makes more of a cinematic impact on the audience. The use of simple backgrounds and setting can show how the singer wants the min focus of attention to be on him, and the chaos, within the music video. The use of middle/long shots can show the unnatural, dance movements the singer is using. The use of the close up shots can demonstrate his almost devil like persona. This can be conveyed by the mise-en-scene. The hairstyle of the main singer has two spikes made with his head, therefore could signify devil horns. This was apart of the punk rock genre, which can be shown by the type of music being played along with the mannerisms of the singer, very violent, 'in your face' and going "crazy" in type with the music. There is a clear relationship  between the lyrics and the visuals as the music is quite violent, and the visuals of the singer, who appears to have a "drunken swagger" to him. This music video can be applied to Goodwin's key features distinguished in music videos as there are a lot of close ups of the main singer. This allows the audience to see and love the main singer as well as being able to uphold their own star image


 Madonna -4 minutes
The music video 4 minutes by Madonna which features Justin Timberland and Justin Timberlake starts off with Justin Timberland rapping. The use of Madonna having these two popular well known men within their industry maybe so that she can reach out to a wider audience. The video then goes into a mixture of shots of Justin Timberlake and Madonna singing while jumping over different props which can make the video more exciting for the viewer. There are a mixture of long and close up shots of Madonna in  a corset. This can show how she is objectifying her body for the male gaze. At the end of the music video there is a small dance break which can help the audience to be entertained.


Spice Girls-wannabe
The music video Wannabe by the Spice Girls starts of with the five of the girls singing in the street. The whole music video has no cuts init. This make it feel as if the audience is coming along with the girls over the journey of the music video. There are different shots ranging from long and medium can show how the camerawork is designed for the audience to see their bodies. Objectifying them but also making sure the audience can see their dance movements. The costume for all five girls are in short dresses or tight trousers which once again objectifies their bodies to the male gaze. This can also represent the star image to the audience.


Lily Allen- The Fear
The song The Fear by Lily Allen starts off with Lily Allen in a caravan singing giving a direct mode of address to the camera. The use of birds eye shots can help the audience see the grand gesture of a man carrying her while other men are dancing behind her. Each different room in the setting has almost a different personality. For example the first room with all of the men, the bedroom with lots of food and children's toys, and the third room where she is surrounded by presents. This can show that the music video is based on almost a child's memories. When outside of the house and there are lots of balloons, which can link in to child memories as children enjoy balloons and playing with them. The use of the song title, "The Fear" links in with the music video as she is fearing growing up, which can be represented by the child like references throughout the video.
